Your Next Lyft Ride May Not Have a Driver
By Marisa Kendall / May 6, 2016
Summon a Lyft in the near future and the car that picks you up could have no one behind the wheel.
Lyft and General Motors plan to have self-driving taxis on public roads within a year, allowing passengers to participate in the pilot program, The Wall Street Journal reported. The companies haven’t disclosed which lucky city will be the first to see the futuristic fleet of self-driving Chevrolet Bolt electric taxis.
The first autonomous cars will have drivers in the front seat ready to take over in case of an emergency, but Lyft plans to eventually remove the driver altogether, The Journal reported.
